Asics Gel Kayano 22
Asics Gel Kayano 22 running shoes have been firmly perched in the favorites’ spot for runners who love consistent stability. Now with their latest Kayano 22 running shoes, a lot of thought has been given to comfort and cushioning to soften impacts and enhance the ride quality significantly.
The uppers of the running shoes have also been upgraded, much to our delight, but the reassuringly stable soles have been retained, making this pair the same old trusty shoes with a modern twist that they very much deserved. After taking them out for a spin, here is what we found out.
Asics Kayano 22 running shoes have retained the outsoles and midsoles of their predecessor complete with a 10mm offset to completely integrate the admirable stability the shoes are known for into this new edition. This translates to amazing support which gifts runners the ability to push their limits in terms of severe overpronation.
Right out of the box, the eye-catching design of the Asics Kayano 22 running shoes is the result of the brand new seamless upper constructions. Granted the design is new, it is nothing too different to the build of the previous versions. The uppers also feature generous integrations of mesh, which drastically enhances the breathability, flex, and comfort.
Although Asics are not the first to go for the more form-fitting seamless upper design, the upgrade will be a welcome one for runners who demand that comfortably snug fit.
As mentioned earlier, the sole construction heavily borrows from the predecessor of the running shoes, which is not necessarily a bad thing. For one thing, the Asics Kayano 22 running shoes are still perfectly stable and capable of exquisite performances.
Also retained in the design is the Asics High Abrasion Rubber on the outsoles, specifically around the heels. There is also a generous addition of impact-absorbing DuraSponge around the toe area to soften those accidental toe knocks.
Size and Fit
The Asics Gel Kayano 22 running shoes feature adaptive stretchable mesh uppers which provide quite the comfortable and secure fit. Not only does it guarantee stellar performance in terms of flexibility, the mesh material is surprisingly form-fitting and light without being too tight or flimsy respectively. One of the downsides, however, is that the running shoes don’t have a lot of toe room for big-footed individuals. While a notable concern, this is not necessarily a deal-breaker.
Like other ASICS stability running shoes, ASICS has overhauled the design of this running shoe, to improve comfort and stability. Instead of the DuoMax foam sole fitted in ASICS previous models, for instance, the company has fitted a Dynamic DuoMax medial post and three Gel pads on this model’s forefoot. This system not only cushions the feet well when a user is in full flight, but also lowers the risk of overpronation, side-to-side flexing, and metatarsal injuries. The rest of the shoe’s midsole is made of SoLyte foam and a single layer of Gel pads that cushion the foot further.
In the midfoot, ASICS has replaced the traditional Trusstic Shank with a newly redesigned one that is simpler, lighter, and more effective. It supports the arch well. It also improves torsional stability for a smoother and safer striding experience. The outsole of the ASICS GEL-Kayano retains its predecessors Guidance Line channels. However, it has wider flex grooves and a crosshatched tread pattern that improves its stability and durability. The heel counter is flexible.
Thus running shoe has an ASICS High Abrasion Resistant (AHAR) carbon rubber and a stretchable and breathable mesh cover framed with aesthetic glossy cobalt overlays.
Like the ASICS GEL-Cumulus 15, the GEL-Kayano is a high-performance model, suitable for both novice and professional runners. For instance, because of its light ergonomic design, soft interior, and multi-layer Gel and foam-padded midsole, the feet stay comfortable. You can exercise or run for long without them weighing you down. Finally, if you are uncoordinated or over pronate when running, ASICS GEL-Kayano has a Dynamic DuoMax medial post, an Impact Guidance System, and a crosshatched tread pattern that improves gait, for natural striding. Its quality and durable build also make it an all-weather running shoe.
Like many ASICS stability running shoes, the Gel Kayano is very comfortable. Stability and support are the two major things to expect when rocking the Asics Gel Kayano 22, thanks to the sole’s Dynamic DuoMax Support system. The cloud-soft underfoot has also been the subject of much appraise because it works fantastically in conjunction with the perfectly balanced soles to provide fantastic user experiences. The cushioning is moderately sufficient when it comes to impact absorption, although this does not mean you should purposely take on the harder trails just to put it to the test.
The ASICS GEL Kayano is a premium feature running shoe available for both men and women. It is well padded, comfortable, and has several stability features engineered to correct moderate to high-level pronation and arch flexibility. For instance, its responsive vertical Guidance line and Impact Guidance System coordinate heel and toe movements for natural striding. It’s Heel Clutching System and soft DuraSponge outsole also enhances comfort and stability further.
Impact Guidance System
Apart from its high performance and comfort levels, a primary feature that has earned the ASICS Gel Kayano a spot among best-running shoes its responsive Impact Guidance System. It regulates movement off and on the ground, normalizes gait, improves the shoe’s flexibility, and finally, acts as a shock absorber.
Space Trusstic System
Space Trusstic shank fitted in this shoe’s midsole is a newly designed model that is stable and highly efficient. It is also light and made of dual-density DuoMax foam, SoLyte foam, and ASICS’s High Abrasion Rubber (AHAR) DuraSponge outsole for cushioning and durability.
Biomorphic Fit Upper
The biomorphic fit upper of this shoe is comfortable. Its stretchable mesh fabric is also breathable. It is non-irritant, keeps the shoe cool, and eliminates bad odor.
Other modifications that people find interesting is its redesigned midfoot shank, revised upper, and a series of underfoot tweaks that eliminate injurious hot spots. Even with its array of features, this shoe is light, flexible, and considered one of the best running shoes because of its durability. You will not regret buying a pair today.
